I am a literary and cultural historian with a particular interest in the contexts and conditions of literary production and reception in the Anglophone world and beyond. My research focuses on life writing, authorship and celebrity, transnational encounters and reception processes, and digital editing, with a particular emphasis on the intersections of literary celebrity and political activism in and through autobiographical narrative from the nineteenth century up to the present. After holding academic positions and research fellowships at the Universities of Vienna, Oxford, Zurich, and Galway, I joined the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in 2021. There I am principal investigator on the three-year FWF-funded project “Auden Musulin Papers: A Digital Edition of W. H. Auden’s Letters to Stella Musulin” (2021-2024) as well as my Elise Richter project “The Author as Activist” (2022-2026).
