Since August 2021, Maria Bertel is a Post-doc in the team of Professor Iris Eisenberger, working for the Horizon 2020 project EC². Before joining the team of Professor Eisenberger at the University of Graz, she has been working at University of Innsbruck and CEU Budapest. Maria studied law and philosophy at the University of Innsbruck. For her habilitation project Maria has been awarded the Elise-Richter-Fellowship of the Austrian Science fund (project title: “The efficiency principle of the Austrian Constitution”). From April 2018 until April 2019 Maria was a Post-Doctoral fellow at Central European University (team of former vicepresident of the ECHR, Prof. András Sajó). Her research focuses on Austrian public law as well as comparative constitutional law (especially Latin America) and questions related to freedom of information and energy transition.
