Forthcoming talk: Gerline Mauerer

Sharing responsibilities: Empirical research results on parents’ dual uptake of parental leave in Austria – Opportunities and challenges for parents and children

In the forthcoming talk (held in German), Gerlinde Mauerer will present findings from research on shared parental responsibilities in gaining income and taking on childcare and household chores. The results show that parents and children benefit from both parents’ uptake of parental leave, but that there are challenges in realizing this due to a lack of role models.

Gerlinde Mauerer is head of the research ‘Gender and family in motion. Parental arrangements’ (Elise Richter Nr. V-843, funded by the FWF – Austrian Science Fund) at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Vienna (https://genfam.univie.ac.at/). She works in research on gender and family, critical masculinities, social inequalities and health.
