Since April 2024, the Berlin University Alliance will enhance its Open Science initiatives by awarding Dr. Katja Mayer, Elise Richter and Science and Technology Studies (STS) scholar from the University of Vienna, an incoming fellowship for one year.
Under the German government’s Excellence Strategy, the Berlin University Alliance—comprising Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin— started their collaboration with the vision “Crossing Boundaries toward an Integrated Research Environment” to foster interdisciplinary research across these institutions.
Through the BUA Incoming Fellowship, located at the Robert K. Merton Center for Science Studies in cooperation with the Center for Open and Responsible Research (CORe) Dr. Mayer will assist in the planning, implementation and reflection of Open Science practices across all partner institutions. Her role includes advising on the adoption of these methods and their integration into research projects, aiming to promote both transparency and collaboration within the alliance. Dr. Mayer’s involvement will also extend to participating in events and research collaborations in Berlin, contributing to the Berlin University Alliance’s efforts in fostering a culture of open scientific inquiry.
